I came across this article on Interbrand the other day - Three Ways to Win the War for Talent by Mike Rocha.
The three ways are:
- Define your purpose and use it to guide your brand strategy
- Live up to your purpose, embrace it internally, and drive participation
- Foster greater collaboration between marketing and HR
We hear 1 and 2 quite often, but we definitely don't hear enough of 3. Purpose is deeply linked to culture, therefore, marketing alone cannot create the movement. To cultivate culture and find the right people to fit in, HR's role is critical.
