Our current approach for helping companies discover their Purpose can be broken down into three steps.
- Build a foundation to brainstorm Purpose.
- Brainstorm key ideas and concepts central to your Purpose.
- Articulate the ideas into a statement by combining what you learned in the brainstorming sessions.
It’s hard to come up with ideas in a vacuum. That’s why we start out with key members of the company coming together to lay down a foundation of ideas and information that reminds them about the things important to the organization.
In laying down the foundation, you will have come up with lots of ideas. It is like drawing colorful and different sized dots on a big canvas. Next up is brainstorming where you try to connect these dots. Lastly, you will take what you learned in the brainstorming sessions and articulate your Purpose.
In future posts, I’ll be sharing some of the tools and exercises we use for each of these steps.
